Your Role

As Foxtrot’s HR Director, you’ll shape how our teams grow, develop, and thrive. This is both a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for someone who loves building structure, fostering growth, and creating systems that help people do their best work. You will work closely with the COO and CFO. This role oversees Foxtrot’s HR operations across the U.S., Canada, and the EU.

The HR Director will ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions, lead compensation and benefits planning, and implement scalable HR systems that support a rapidly growing organization.

Responsibilities

This role requires adaptability, strong collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Depending on organizational needs, responsibilities may include:

  • Lead Foxtrot’s HR strategy and execution, aligning people initiatives with company goals.
  • Oversee HR operations including performance management, total rewards, employee relations, benefits, and compliance.
  • Manage U.S. employment law compliance, PTO/leave plans, and maintain familiarity with UK, Canada, and EU HR laws.
  • Configure and manage employee data, onboarding flows, payroll integrations, and benefits programs.
  • Lead compensation benchmarking, salary banding, and pay equity analysis.
  • Draft and maintain employment contracts, termination documentation, and privacy compliance (including GDPR).
  • Partner with leadership on organizational design, staffing, and succession planning.
  • Drive learning initiatives, manager training, and upskilling programs.
  • Lead HRIS implementation, process improvements, and integration with payroll/contractor systems.
  • Develop and analyze HR dashboards and models using Google Sheets or Excel.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to employees on performance, development, and conflict resolution.
  • Manage vendor and partner relationships including brokers, benefits administrators, and legal advisors.
  • Support Foxtrot’s international expansion and resource planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior generalist role.
  • 4+ years of dedicated HR experience with strong exposure to U.S. employment law and multi-state compliance.
  • Strong understanding of HRIS systems and payroll integrations.
  • Experience managing full-cycle HR processes including onboarding, compensation, performance, and offboarding.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic partnership with hands-on execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel.
  • Comfort supporting globally distributed teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting distributed teams across the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
  • Background scaling HR systems in high-growth organizations (50–500+ employees).
  • Understanding of international compliance and benefits structures.
  • Exposure to tech or startup environments.
  • Familiarity with equity design, compensation frameworks, and pay equity analysis.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification is a plus.
